It is recommended that you acquire the new keyboard before you start trying to take off the old keyboard. The new keyboard will provide important information regarding how you can take off the old keyboar.Make sure the laptop is turned off and take off the battery under all circumstances.
Poking your head in; here are a few tips
- Look at the location of the screws at the back of the new keyboard and you can locate the screws you need to take off at the back of your laptop.
- Are there any holes for screws like these two at the front of the new keyboard? If yes, you will need to take the panel covering the old keyboard at your laptop.(Here is a keyboard for Acer 1400 series ¨CI have almost 90% of keyboards in stock)
- Some keyboards do not have any screws at the back of the keyboard nor at the front. In this case, the keyboard is mostly likely to be fixed by the panel in front of it (like My HP NC4000) Then you will just need to unscrew the screws holding this panel in front of the keyboard
Never try to pull something too hard. You may break it. ?
Starting working on the screws.Take off the screws you have locate it on the keyboard. If there is noting else holding the keyboard, you can try to pull the keyboard out lightly. If youstill cannot take it out, the panel in front of the keyboard will most likely to be the reason. Find the screws for that panel and take them off.
Once everything in the way is taken off, you can take the keyboard off and find the cables connecting to the motherboard. Pull out the cable lightly.
Replace the new keyboard and then put everything back!

Examples
Replacing keyboard without screws:
Please power OFF the computer and remove the battery and AC power connection.
Laptop computers contain HIGH VOLTAGE, and are dangerous to work with.
Remove Casing
Laptop keyboards that are removed from the top usually have a casing or other plastic parts that surround the keyboard to keep it in place. To remove the casing, use a flat head screw driver, wedge it between the computer and the casing and lift. The casing should pop off. Usually it will not be necessary to remove any screws.
Lift Keyboard Once any plastic casings around the keyboard have been removed the keyboard is now ready to be lifted.With a flat head screw driver, gently lift the keyboard away from the laptop.
Do not remove the keyboard as it is still attached to the computer by a ribboncable. Lift the keyboard just enough to give you enough room to remove the
ribbon.
Example Two

Remove this part, using a flat head screw driver (3.8-4mm Phillips), wedge it between the computer and the lift it. You¡¯ll see two screws(like this)

Remove the screws

Remove the cover (casing?Don¡¯t know the name)

Remove the keyboard ( here is the ribbon)

To remove the ribbon, pull down/push down/slide down these two black parts and change to a new keyboard
